Supply Lists

*this list will be alphabetical by class name

American History
This year, American History will be using an online textbook- students must have access to the internet for this class. If this is an impossibility for anyone taking the class, please contact Mrs. Rudzinski as soon as possible (815-543-0695).

Supplies: Binder with dividers
Notebook paper or spiral notebook for notes
Folders (2)
We will be trying to read historical fiction during the course of the year- students will be given a choice of books Library copies are acceptable. All books will be in print and attainable on Amazon if need be. More about this after the start of the class.


American Literature
Supplies:
1 3 inch binder with college ruled note paper
at least 100 index cards
highlighter
dividers for binder
access to dictionary/thesaurus
Note to parents: Teacher will order books and collect money from parents. If you would rather get the book at a library, that is an option. If you want to pay me to order all the books at the beginning of the semester, the total cost would be $19.00. If you want to take this option, simply write a check out to me and have your student turn it in to me on the first day of class.
Book list for first semester:
1.How to Read a Book by Mortimer J. Adler and Charles Van Doren (I will order these and have them available prior to the first class; they will cost $7.00 each).
2. poetry by Anne Bradstreet-teacher will provide at no cost to students
3. Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin by Benjamin Franklin (teacher will order-cost will be $3.00/student and can be turned in when the book is ordered).
4. Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglas, An American Slave by Frederick Douglass (teacher will provide).
5. Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe (teacher will order-cost will be $4.00 per student and can be turned in when book is ordered)
6. Common Sense by Thomas Paine (teacher will provide at no cost to students).
7. The Last of the Mohicans by James Fennimore Cooper (teacher will order-cost will be $5.00 per students and can be turned in when book is ordered).

Art
All supplies for the art classes, including smocks, will be provided by the instructor.

Supplies needed: Students will need to have their own copy of the books. Students will also need access to a dictionary at home. In class, students will need the book we are reading, paper (spiral notebook or binder with looseleaf paper) and pen or pencil for taking notes.



Chemistry
The Chemistry class for 2009-2010 will be using the Apologia Chemistry book. The list of supplies will be posted soon, but we wanted to let you know so that you could order the book now.

Money Matters
Required Text: Dave Ramsey's Foundations in Personal Finance Student Workbook
Teacher is ordering books and video series for the course. Students will purchase the workbook from the instructor and there will be a material fee to cover additional supplies.
Course supplies: Workbook and pen/pencil will be required for class.
Course outline: Each session will consist of review of previous material, video and discussion.

6th Grade Religion

books: your books are at Mrs. Brandon's house, she will bring them the first day of class.


Supplies:

3-ring binder with looseleaf notebook paper.
Pen or pencil for class notes.
Markers, crayons, colored pencils or whatever you choose for any artwork we may do.
You may (but not required) bring your Bible to class. At times it will be helpful.

Religion 9-12

We will also be using Magnificat Magazine. If you have a subscription, please bring your copy of the magazine to class.

Science Class 4-6th graders:

3 ring binder (1 inch is good) for notebooking. With "View" clear plastic on
cover to insert a cover page - Walmart has for $1.78
plastic sheet protectors to insert pages in 3 ring binder (25 count)
spiral notebook
glue
scissors
colored pencils
crayons
ruler (which includes centimeters)
scotch tape
roll of aluminum foil (10-15 feet for 1st lesson)
An empty "copy paper" box or shipping box of similar size for 1st lesson
(If you are unable to find one, we will have a few extras available)


Science through Nature
Supplies needed: glue, scissors, crayons or markers
Children should be prepared to go outside, so bring a jacket if it's cool; boots if it's snowy. In other words, dress for the weather.
