DRESS CODE

Baltimore Catechism: "Modesty protects the intimate center of the person. It means refusing to unveil what should remain hidden. It guides how one looks at others and behaves toward them in conformity with the dignity of persons and their solidarity."

GENERAL:



  • All pants/skirts and shirts must be "uniform style." This means pants and skirts that come to the waistline and are made with traditional uniform cotton/twill fabric. No lycra or spandex content is allowed. Denim jean pants are also acceptable.
  • Polo shirts must have traditional button style with buttons starting at the neckline. Only the top button is to be left undone. Tops must not be tight or too baggy; the bra line should not show in the back. Polo shirts may be solid colors or stripes.
  • Oxford style button down shirts, blouses, and t-shirts are acceptable.  They may be solid colors, stripes, or prints but MAY NOT have any writing on the.  Shirts must be modest--not too tight or low cut and long enough to reach the waist.
  • Hooded sweatshirts are permitted, but hood may not be worn indoors.   Also, sweatshirts may not have writing on them.
  • The acceptable skirt/jumper/culotte length is to the bottom of the kneecap. Slits in skirts must come below the knees.
  • All students may wear shorts when the weather is hot.  Shorts MUST reach the knee.
  • NO hats may be worn inside the building.
  • Hair of both boys and girls must be worn in a respectable style and should be kept groomed and clean. No bizarre colors or shaven designs are allowed. Boys must be clean-shaven and their hair should not touch their collar in the back, or cover their ears on the side.
  • No piercing is allowed except for one small hole in each ear on a girl. No tattoos are allowed, nor symbols, logos, or writing that conveys an anti-Christian message.
  • Make-up may be worn by girls, but it should be as natural looking as possible. Dark or bright make-up or nail polish is not to be used. (This includes black, red, dark purple, dark green.) No dark eyeliner, blush, lipstick, or "raccoon eyes" are permitted.
  • Parents should try to meet or exceed dress code themselves. We need to be good examples for our children. Likewise, young children should be neatly and modestly dressed.


The following are allowed:
Shirts, tops, sweaters
  • short or long sleeved solid colored or striped polo shirts, uniform style; button down oxford-style shirts, blouses, t-shirts with no writing on them
  • solid colored cardigans with button or zipper closure
  • solid colored cotton crew necks or turtlenecks, long or short sleeved, may be worn under uniform polo on cold days
Pants
  • solid colored khaki, navy, or black uniform style; denim blue jeans
  • capris (only in Sept., Oct., April, or May) 
  • knee length uniform style shorts 
Skirts/Jumpers/Culotttes
  • solid colored khaki, navy, black, or uniform-style plaid; length below knee caps
  • plaid uniform jumpers and skirts must be from a uniform manufacturer
